Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-08-11

These terms govern use of the AddressHate Annotator browser extension and the AddressHate annotation service. By using the extension you agree to them.

Authorized use only

The extension is a private research tool provided to specific, authorized annotators. You may use it only with an account the project has granted you and only for the project's hate-speech research. Do not share your account or attempt to access data or features beyond your role.

Eligibility

Use requires that you are at least 18 years old, located in the United States, and authorized to act on behalf of your organization — you confirm all three when you complete the setup questionnaire, and that confirmation is recorded with your account.

Acceptable use

Accounts and security

You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any suspected compromise. We may suspend or revoke access that violates these terms or the research protocol.

Data

Your use of the extension is also governed by our Privacy Policy. You can remove your data as described in Data Deletion.

Intellectual property

The extension, the service, and the annotation taxonomy are the property of the AddressHate project. These terms grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use them for authorized annotation only.

Disclaimer and liability

The extension is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the project is not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of it.

Termination

You may stop using the extension and delete your data at any time. We may end or suspend your access if it is no longer authorized or if these terms are breached.

Changes

We may update these terms; the “Last updated” date reflects the current version. If a change materially affects you we will tell you rather than rely on the date alone. Continuing to use the extension after a change means you accept it.
