AddressHate Annotator
A browser extension that lets an authorized annotator label hate speech on the post, comment, video or chat message in front of them — without leaving the page.
It is a closed research tool, not a consumer product. It works only for accounts the AddressHate project has authorized — project staff and vetted research partners — and without one it does nothing at all. The pages below explain what it does with data, what it can do so far, and how to get help.
- What it does
- Adds an Annotate button to posts on the sites the project studies, marks the ones already annotated, and syncs each label to the project’s own service for a lead to review.
- Who it’s for
- Annotators the project has authorized by name. Installing it without an account gets you a sign-in screen and nothing else.
- Where it runs
- 18 sites — X, YouTube, Rumble, TikTok, Reddit, Instagram, Facebook, 4chan, 8kun, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Mastodon and Truth Social, and AI chat assistants — and nowhere else. It does not run on the rest of the web.
- What leaves your browser
- Only what you deliberately annotate or flag. Browsing a supported site sends nothing. Read the detail.
