Support & Setup

AddressHate Annotator lets authorized annotators label hate speech directly on X, YouTube, Rumble, TikTok, Reddit, Instagram, 4chan, and the AI chat assistants. Here's how to get started and fix common issues. If you're stuck, email us.
Getting started
- Install & pin. Add the extension, then pin it to the Chrome toolbar so you can reach its popup.
- Sign in. Open the popup and choose Sign in (or Create account). Use the username and password (or Google account) the project gave you. A short one-time questionnaire completes your setup; you must be signed in to flag or annotate.
- Annotate. On a post, comment, video or chat response, hover and click Annotate (or press Alt+A). Classify it in the side panel and submit — it syncs automatically. New accounts start as flaggers: you can flag posts for the annotation team until an admin enables annotating.
- Queue & history. The popup's tabs show the shared work queue and your past annotations; the ⤢ button opens the full-page workspace.
Keyboard shortcuts
On the page, whatever your account can do:
- Alt+A — act on the highlighted post: annotate it, or flag it if your account is flag-only
- Alt+J / Alt+K — next / previous post
While annotating (these need an account that can annotate):
- Alt+C — pick co-text comments (extra context) · Alt+Shift+C clears the picked set
- In the panel: number keys pick an option in the current section, Enter advances, / searches a long option list, Space toggles Needs review, ⌘/Ctrl+Enter submits, Esc closes.
- Z — undo, in the few seconds right after submitting
Troubleshooting
The Annotate button isn't showing
After the extension updates, reload the platform tab (not just the extension). Make sure you're signed in and on a supported site (x.com, twitter.com, youtube.com, rumble.com, tiktok.com, reddit.com, old.reddit.com, instagram.com, boards.4chan.org, boards.4channel.org, chatgpt.com, claude.ai, grok.com, gemini.google.com, chat.deepseek.com, chat.qwen.ai).
I can't sign in
Confirm your account was authorized by the project. Passwords are case-sensitive and there is no self-service reset yet — if you've forgotten yours, contact us and an admin will issue a new one. If you can sign in but can't annotate, your account's permission group may be flag-only — an admin can change that.
My submissions aren't syncing
Annotations queue locally and retry automatically, so a brief outage is fine. If they stay pending, check your connection and that you're still signed in, then reopen the popup to wake the sync.
