Data deletion

You can delete your account and the personal data associated with it at any time. There are two ways to do it.

1. Self-service, in the extension#

This is the fastest route and takes effect immediately.

Open Settings. Click the extension's toolbar icon, then the ⚙ button — it opens the full-page settings.
Find your profile. Click “Delete my account & data.”
Confirm. Password accounts re-enter their password as a safety check.

What this does. Your account, credentials, and all sessions are permanently removed; your personal usage data (view counts and your setup questionnaire answers) is deleted; and your past annotations are de-identified — detached from your identity and replaced with a random pseudonym, so they remain usable as anonymous research data but can no longer be traced to you.

2. By email#

If you can't sign in, email ksaiki@addresshate.org from the address associated with your account (or include your account identifier) and ask us to delete your data. We will verify the request and process it, typically within 30 days.

Full erasure#

By default, deletion anonymizes your contributions as described above. If you want your annotation content hard-deleted as well — not just de-identified — say so in your request and we will purge it everywhere we hold it.

Removing on-device data#

Signing out ends your session; work you have submitted but that hasn't been delivered yet stays queued locally so it isn't lost. Removing the extension from Chrome (chrome://extensions → Remove) deletes all of its on-device storage.

What may remain after deletion#

Unless you request full erasure, anonymized annotations that are no longer linked to you may be retained for research. Standard, non-identifying server logs may persist for a limited period as part of routine operations.

To be specific about which is which. Always deleted outright: your account and credentials, every active session, your setup questionnaire answers, and your personal usage counts. Detached from you rather than deleted (unless you ask for full erasure): your annotations, any review decisions and coaching notes you wrote or received, your resolutions of disagreements, and the queue entries you created — each is re-attributed to a one-off pseudonym. The study labels on that work — which team and project it was filed under — stay, because they describe the research rather than you. If a seat was invited for you and never claimed, removing it removes the invitation record with it.
